Hi!

I'm Alex! I've been gardening since I was a little girl, following my grandparents around their property and sneaking a handful or two of strawberries. During Covid, I spent a lot of time reflecting in my family's garden. This moved beyond a passion for getting my hands in the soil, and turned into a sort of therapy. Now, I study and take classes to better understand how I can restore the native ecosystem that once thrived in our backyards.

Where We Stand

Purpose

To educate and inspire our local community about the vital role native plants play in restoring local ecosystems. We do all of this while, also, supporting community mental health through resilient, mindful, and beautifully designed landscapes that belong where they are planted.

Vision

We envision a future where neighborhoods are alive with native flora and fauna and serve as everyday sanctuaries; where gardens support birds, pollinators, and soil health; and where families, neighbors, and friends are invited back into relationship with nature, to find moments of peace, and experience the mental and emotional benefits of well loved green spaces.

Mission

We design, plant, and steward landscapes that are appropriate to their local environment and supportive of human well being, honoring natural systems while helping neighbors confidently embrace native plants.

Through education, thoughtful design, and hands on care, we help neighbors create outdoor spaces that restore ecosystems, encourage mindfulness, and foster a sense of belonging in our native landscapes.

Principles

  1. Land and People Heal Together

    • Healthy landscapes support healthy minds. We design spaces that promote reflection and restoration.

  2. Access to Beauty is Access to Care

    • Everyone deserves access to thoughtfully designed, beautiful outdoor spaces, as green space supports emotional well being and daily stress relief.

  3. Native First, Always

    • We prioritize native flora and fauna as the foundation of resilient landscapes that are healthy, self sustaining, and offer deeper ecological and psychological benefits.

  4. Resilience Over Perfection

    • We design for long term health, adaptability, and climate resilience in landscapes and in life.

  5. Right Plant, Right Place

    • Gardens should belong to their environment, reducing strain on both ecosystems and the people who care for them.

  6. Education Through Experience

    • We believe gardens are living classrooms that quietly teach stewardship, patience, presence... and much more. Learning happens best through doing.

  7. Community Investment in Green Space

    • Green spaces are shared assets. When neighbors invest in them, the environment and collective well being grow.
